TEXAS TRIP

Our trip to Texas was long but lots of fun! I didn't do the best job of taking pictures while we were there so most of these are pretty random.

and pink clown lipstick. Jaysa and Breklyn LOVED playing makeup. They had a little spend the night and Jaysa came home looking like this! ha ha ha so cute!

Spend the night over at Aunt Kajsa's with Jaylie, Breklyn and Crew! Breklyn and Jaysa slept in the same bed and in the middle of the night Breklyn went into her mommy's room and said that she didn't want to sleep with Jaysa anymore. ha ha (I don't blame her. She is a WILD sleeper!!!) So they made a little bed for Breklyn on the floor. By this time Jaysa was up and Kajsa had to go put her back in Breklyn's bed. Jaysa asked Kajsa was afraid that if she left Jaysa would cry so she layed with her till she fell asleep. Kajsa said that she would try to get up to go back to her bed but Jaysa would always shoot up and say "Come on, stay with me" ha ha so Kajsa finally fell asleep in the bed with Jaysa. She said at one point she woke up and Jaysa was starring at her. Jaysa then gave her the Hook'em sign and laid right back down and went to bed. Ha ha we all thought it was pretty funny when Kajsa told us.

We went to Chick fil a and they had this cow in the santa suit. Jaysa loved him but wouldn't go near him so I had to get in the picture with her.

Ha Ha this is a funny story. C.J. and I were sitting at Ryan and Brandilyn's house and we were all in the living room talking and all of the sudden C.J. goes "Dude, there's a mouse!" So we all go looking for it and the boys chase the mouse into the bathroom while Brandilyn and I find town to stuff at the bottom of the door so it can't get out. So Ryan and C.J. are in the bathroom with the mouse looking for it and me and Brandilyn are outside listening. All of the sudden we hear both of them start screaming like little girls. From the outside all Brandilyn and I can hear are things crashing and both the boys screaming in high pitched voices "there it is....get it.... AHHHHHHH" Brandilyn and I are laughing histerically outside the door because are husband are such babies. So finally everything falls silent and they open the door holding this bad boy. Ha Ha I love Ryan's face too.

BABY BRIGGS

I don't know if I have talked about Mr. Baby Briggs on the blog just yet. Briggs is Ryan and Brandilyn's baby. He was born about 3 months ago. He has a hole in his heart and a"blockage" is what I am going to call it cause I don't know the medical term. He went in for heart surgery a few weeks after being born to attempt to repair his heart but the surgery was not as successful as the doctors had hoped. At 3 months old he weighs about 10 lbs. If he does not gain more weight soon the Dr.'s want to do an open heart surgery on him. Our hope is that he will begin to gain weight and that he will not need a second surgery.

UPDATE ON JAYLIE

Jaylie came home from the hospital yesterday and has finished her last round of chemo!!!!!! We are so happy she is finished and believe that in a few weeks she will start to feel normal again. The Dr.'s say that there is a 60% chance that the cancer will not come back. Her mom is doing a GREAT job of figuring out what sorts of things will help to reduce her chances of getting cancer in the future. We are so proud of you Jaylie!!!!!

NEW CAMERA

C.J. let me buy the new T3i Rebel cannon and I have been having so much fun with it! At first it was really overwhelming trying to learn what shutter speed, aperture, and ISO's were but after reading a lot and taking notes, and testing it out I really feel like I got it down. I also got a little trial run of Photoshop and my awesome sister-in-law Brandilyn has taught me a few tricks on it. Here are some of the pictures I took of Jaysa and my little niece Breklyn.

Taking down a full velvet, 3 point, his pride has increased

We will feast, feast, feast, oh what a nice treat.

Our Who-father, C.J. also enjoys a good dash

A bicycling bike ride and a splikity splash

1^st place in his age group for the summer triathlon

He also completed the St. George Marathon.

Our Who-Mother, dear Robin, just got her degree

From writing papers and essays, she is finally free

She still keeps herself busy throughout the day

Kissing bamshakeled bruised boo boo’s away

Her latest creation came early in the year

Valentine’s brought our darling Paisley dear

And so with more smiles and twinkling toes

She bought a Cannon camera to capture all those

Our little Cindy Lou Who

Is named Jaysa Sue

Her Christmas spirit is the brightest of all

Her heart is not two sizes too small

However, her shoes the left and the right

Are growing a teeny pinch too tight

Older and older she will soon be

Our big girl is going to almost be three

She’s gotten so big and loves to play

THANKSGIVING

With so many years in the past Thanksgiving has been a day of stuffing my face, football watching, a family Turkey bowl game and the traditions of going around the table and saying one thing we are thankful for. This year has been a little different. There have been several experiences this past year that have caused me to realize the importance of truly being grateful. This Thanksgiving morning I have truly felt deep gratitude for many of the blessings the lord has given me. I am thankful for my family and the chance we have to all be together during this holiday and for the fun and good memories we can create together. I am thankful for my husband who sticks by me no matter the situation. I am thankful for my children and the joy they bring to me. I am thankful for good friends who would drop everything to come to my side when I need them. I am thankful for financial stability, my family in Texas, my religion and so much more.

Normally I don't think about what I am going to say at the table until my belly is full but this year I know exactly what I am going to say. This year what I am most grateful for is the health of my children, my husband, and myself.

As many of you know this has been a hard year for C.J.'s family with the diagnosis of our 5 year old niece, Jaylie, and her brain cancer and then with our brand new nephew needing multiple heart surgeries at just a few weeks old. As a mother I can't help but put myself in my sister-in-laws shoes and try to understand what they are feeling as they watch their child struggle. I am infinately more grateful to be able to step out of their shoes and enjoy my children and their health. My emotions have been all over the place as I continue to watch my neice and nephew fight for their lives. I remember the morning after we found out about Jaylie's brain tumor and the possibility of it being cancerous I could not control my feelings. I woke up and just held my children and cried. For whatever reason I felt the need to write those feeling down so that I could remember them years from now. I have only shared what I wrote with one person, my husband, because it was so personal to me. Today C.J. told me he thought I should post what I wrote that morning on the blog. I was hesitant at first but thought it fit with the Thanksgiving spirit and expressed what I am most grateful for. I am not a great writer, I don't proclaim to be, but I enjoy putting my feelings on paper and in this case felt the need to share. So here goes... I called it Green Pancakes because that morning I was supposed to begin writing a very important paper for school but found myself unable to think about anything else besides how grateful I was for all the things that drove me nuts about being a mom. I felt the need to enjoy my children and and the simplicity of our life here on earth. Instead of starting on that paper I made my kids green pancakes and we sat on the floor and laughed and giggled as we ate them together.

C.J. had a recruiting trip in Flagstaff, Arizona so we decided to make a weekend out of it and head to the Phoenix and Mesa area to visit our friends Brain and Shelbie and C.J's family

THE DEER HUNT

C.J. finally drew a deer tag this year. He has been out several times with buddies and bow hunting but this time he finally got to bring something home.

Brandon was nice enough to take C.J. and a few of his other buddies out and help make sure everyone got a deer. I told Brandon that if C.J. didn't kill a deer to leave him out in the mountains and let him find his way home. I was so happy when C.J sent me a picture of him with his deer!

I don't know anything about hunting but I guess this is a really neat deer because he is in full velvet. It is currently at the taxidermists house being prepared for a mount

LIFE AS WE KNOW IT

I have the hardest time getting Paisley to lay still and drink her bottle. If I don't stay there with her she usually rolls over in a matter of seconds and is off playing. The other day I told Jaysa to make sure Paisley did not roll over while she was drinking her bottle. When I came back this was her solution the Paisley's problem.

C.J. had about a week long trip up north so I just had him drop me and the girls off at Aunt Kristin's for some fun during the week.

Every time we go up north we go to the little duck pond they have on the BYU Campus to feed the ducks.

I still have not gotten a new battery and charger for my camera so we are relying on C.J.'s iphone to take pictures. This makes me so sad cause I have missed a lot of cute things my kids have done cause I just don't have a camera while he is a work. In our new house we have a really deep kitchen sink that has two sides to it. I love to give the girls baths in the sink because it is much easier than bending over the tub. Jaysa loves to get a mouth full of water and spit it at Paisley. Paisley usually doesn't pay much attention to this but now that she is getting older she is starting to interact more. When Jaysa spit water in Paisley's face she just thought it was the funniest thing ever! She was crackin up! I wish I would have gotten it on camera so bad but I guess it gives me motivation to avert my attention from the house to getting a new battery and charger! STILL IN THE OLD HOUSE.

After a day of working hard to pack up and move we decided we needed some chocolate... a lot of chocolate! We got one of the cups of chocolate chips you can melt in the microwave and dipped bananas in it. We didn't even wait for the chocolate to harden we just dove in!

So glad my teeth really don't look like this.

Paisley barfed on dad while he was playing with her. She just barley missed his mouth. I love her innocent face.

Paisley is loving whole foods. She loves her puffs and any other big people food we give her. I love the placement of the puffs on her chest... they look like little pasties! ha ha

FISH FRY

We had this awesome idea to do a fish fry with our neighbors. We cooked up the crawdads we caught a while ago and C.J., Brandon and my brother-in-law Mark all went out fishing to hopefully catch some bluegill....hopefully is the keyword here. The boys didn't come home till about 9:45 that night and no bluegill :/ so we improvised with the bass they caught and filleted them up and fried them. It was DELICIOUS! These are the only two pictures I took, sorry!

THE ST. GEORGE MARATHON

I have a few pictures of C.J. making his run but they are on a friends camera so the only pictures I have are ones we took after the marathon. There were so many people there when C.J. and I finally found each other he just laid down in the grass. He was so tired. I have never seen him like that before but I am so proud of him for accomplishing this!

Watching some of the first people cross the finish line is something I will never forget. Tears welled up in my eyes as I watched the expressions on peoples face and watched their physical struggle to get to the finish line. I especially got emotional when I could tell that someone's body was shutting down but they continued to tell their legs to keep moving and again when I saw other runners come to a runners side who was about to pass out yet refused to give up till they reached their goal. I saw one runner who's body just kept getting lower and lower to the ground but he wouldn't let his legs stop moving. I thought there was no way he was going to make it until a man behind him grabbed his arm and held him up helping him to finish the race. I wish I could give a discription of his movements. It was almost like a baby horse that was first learning to walk and was taking wobbley exagerated steps and stubbling all at the same time. I cried when they crossed the finish line because the struggling runner's body just collasped and the other runner just held him up and spoke to him until the paramedics could get to him. If you have never watched anything like this it is hard to imagine. All I could think about was how we look like the struggling runner at times when we feel that we can't go any further in life and how the lord comes to our side to aid us. He does not take the burden from us but helps to hold us up to make our burden bearable so that we can make it to our finish line. I have a new respect for people that truly give all they have to accomplish something like this and hope that when I am struggling with something in life I can remember this experince to remind me that after I have given my everything the lord will help me the rest of the way.

WORKING ON THE HOUSE

We bought this house because we fell in love with the potential the house had. We had a lot of ideas about what we wanted to do to it. One of our first projects after moving in was to redo the kitchen cabinets. The original color was a cream almost pinky ugly color. Here is the before.

That is not the original fridge that came with the house. We had to buy all new appliances but thanks to Brandon's brother Justin who works at Lowes the cost off all the appliances didn't take too much of a hit to our budget.

Don't you just love it... (I am being sacrastic) This isn't the only room we have painted it's just the only one I have a picture of. Once things settle down around here with all of C.J.'s traveling I will have more detailed pictures of the house.

MY CHANDILIER

A year or two ago I bought a chandilier from a lady I met at a garage sale. It has been sitting in our garage since I bought it. I know C.J. thought I was a crazy women but I knew that one day it was look amazing in a house we bought. I am so excited that now that we have a house with valeted ceilings and have a spot for it! Hanging this sucker up was no easy task. The chandlier is almost 4 feet fall and weighs a lot. It was an all day process! Here is what we had to do.

Here is Cj on the ladder which is on top of our island. Just a little bit scary! If you look at the ceiling you can see two holes next to the one C.J. is working on. Before we had the chandiler up there were two old gold light fixtures nicknamed by Brandon, The Booby Lights. This nick name actually gives a very good discription of what they looked like. ha ha ha. The booby lights were both mounted on studs however we wanted the chandelier to be centered on the island which meant it had to be right in the middle of the booby lights, which meant no stud. We could have just mounted in the left stud but I didn't think it would look as good and C.J. was worried about the wiring. So he cut a hole in the ceiling and we mounted this metal thing between the two studs. Normally you would go up in the attic and mount it from their but the ceiling was vaulted and there was no way we could have gotten to it.

Here's a good view of where the booby lights were and the hole we made. Now to cover the hole we had to make in the ceiling we bought one of the decorative round ceiling medalions.... I know ghetto but it actually turned out looking nice! Here is the finished product of the chandelier... we are still working on patching the holes from the booby lights

I LOVE IT!!!! Our next projects for the house are the crown molding in the kitchen and putting rock on three sides of the island. We are also working on a farmhouse table but we will be in AZ for the next two weeks so none of those will happen till we get back!

UCLA vs. TEXAS

Bob flew into Vegas on Friday and him and C.J. had a father and sons weekend out in LA and Pasadena. They went to the Texas UCLA game which Texas won 49-20. They had a blast and got to meet some of the team including Mack Brown the head coach. C.J. and Bob stayed around after the game and waited for the team to come out. They saw all of the players and coaches and got to talk with a few of them. My mom was so helpful because she watched the girls while they were in California and I was up in northern California visiting Chelsea. Thanks MOM.

MAJOR CHANGES

It's so weird to look back on life and see where you have come from. I first moved to St. George to play soccer for Dixie. I truly never thought I would live here for more than two years. At that time my plan was to play for two years while I waited for a missionary and then get married. Wow have things changed since then! I didn't marry that missionary. I met someone else. Someone I am so incredibly grateful for and someone who has changed my life for the better. I have now been married to that man for 5 years and we have 2 beautiful girls.

Now I am the type of person that always has to have a plan. So after getting married our plan was to finish school here at Dixie and move back to Texas AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. We were both born and raised there and want to settle down and raise our children there. However for some unexplainable reason we didn't move after C.J. graduated. We decided to stay for one more year. Then we found out I was pregnant with Paisley. We didn't have well paid jobs and I was still having to work to help bring in enough income for our family. I should have been scared out of mind about how we were going support our family but for some reason I wasn't. I was unusually calm and knew that everything would be fine. C.J. and I were praying for him to find a job in Texas and before we knew it our prayers were answered in a much different way. C.J. was offered a recruiting job at the college. It's so funny to see people we used to hang out with when we were single or just newly married because they all say the same thing..."You're still here?" ha ha ha Yes the two years I had originally planned to live here has now become 6 and a half. Reflecting back I am amazed at how everything fell into place. Today I feel like there is a reason C.J. and I are still here. I am not sure what it is but whatever it is I have learned how important it is to trust in the Lords plan and that his plan is always better than your own. The extra year we planned to stay ended in May but C.J. has fallen in love with his job and doesn't want to leave just yet. We have again decided to postpone our move back home and just bought a house here in St. George! We moved in about 2 weeks ago and just finished painting a few walls. So far we LOVE it! It feels great to have our own place and we have a few plans for updating and putting our own stamp on it. St. George is surprisingly starting to feel like home for me. I am sorry I don' have any pictures of the move or the new house but I will as soon as possible!

UPDATING THE BLOG

A while back I did my best at changing a few things on the blog and it was a major FAIL! I couldn't figure out anything! My saving grace (AKA Liz), who helped me set up my blog in the first place just moved back down to St. George and came over to help me make the changes I have been wanting to make for a year or so (and when I say helped me I mean, I told her what I wanted and she took it home and did it for me) ha ha I am so bad with computers and she is like a computer genius! We moved the playlist to the top right side bar so that you don't have to scroll all the way down to the bottom to turn it off. As you have most likely already noticed we also put some new songs on there!!!! I am sure all of you are so tired of hearing that Darius Rucker song that we put on close to three years ago because I know I am! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Liz for all the work you did to make my blog look great! You are the best! Love ya girl!

TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES

So we are having some technical difficulties here. We lost the charger to the camera and the battery is dead which means I can't upload the pictures off of it till we go buy a new charger and most likely a new battery because the old one is not holding any charge. I have also had to jump on C.J.'s work computer to write this post because a while back Paisley projectile barffed on the key board of my computer and after not being used for two weeks while we were in Texas the Enter button has decided that it would stop working. LOVELY! So anyway here are the pictures I have so far of us in Texas and also a bunch that we pulled off of C.J's phone. ENJOY!

This next day we went up to Park City and Road the Alpine slides. It was SOOOO much fun! Jaysa loved every bit of it and I hope that she will remember because it will be one of my favorite memories with her.

I WILL NOT drink my milk after eating cereal. My dad has been trying to get me to do this since I was a kid but I HATE milk. I put it in my cereal just to get it wet and I will even pour it out before I am done eat the cereal sometimes. Now that I have Jaysa I don't have to though. Drinking the milk at the end is Jaysa favorite part. When I am done with the cereal I just call Jaysa and she drinks my milk for me and loves every second of it!

It was so nice to get to go back to Texas and see all of out family from their. It's been a year since we have seen some of them.

JAYLIE'S 5K FUN RUN

We were fortunate enough to be there during Jaylie's 5k fun run. I am so thankful that we got to be there for this. It was amazing to see all the supporters there were. There were a little over 800 people that signed up to run, and probably 1500 people that shoed up total in support of Jaylie.

They even went out of there way to have some of Jaylie's favorite things there. Jaylie Loves princesses. So they had two girls put on prom dresses and wear crowns. It was pretty cute. Here is Jaysa, Jaylie, Breklyn and two other girls with the princesses.

C.J. ran the 5K in 21:54. He was hoping to beat his record time but said he ran out of gas at the end. He finished 2nd in his age group 13 seconds behind 1st. He was pretty bummed about that. He said if he would have known he would have pushed himself harder. I did not actually get to run. I had planned on it but I was getting kids situated and all of the sudden everyone took off and I didn't have a chip on my shoe and by that time there were no other adults to watch the babies. I was a little sad I didn't get to run but oh well what can ya do.

While we were there we also got to go the Sea world and do a lot of the behind the scenes stuff with Jaylie.

These things were so cute! The second we walked in they would run up to us put their head down by their knees and continually run into your legs as you walked.

Jaysa has always loved all the animals the Ferguson's have at their house. They now have chicken's and Jaysa loved going out to see them. She knows what a chicken was but one day she came to me and said "I want to go see the Bac Bac things" ha ha so cute

BACK AT HOME

The second we got home I put panties on Jaysa and told her we were not allowed to wear diapers anymore. So far it's gone fairly well! It's been almost two weeks and hardly ever has any accidents!

Going #2 is hard sometimes cause it takes her a while so I put on a movie for her. ha ha

I am so proud of her! Can't wait till she has it down on the big toilet!

UPDATES

JAYLIE

Jaylie had her first Chemo treatment on the 18th of this month and did AMAZING! Kajsa said she just kept waiting for her to get sick but she never did!. All kids react differently to chemo. Fortunately this time Jaylie wasn't sick. She went in for another smaller dose of chemo this morning and is now off for the next 27 days before her next big chemo treatment. We are hoping and praying that she will have the same reaction for the rest of her treatments.

CALVIN

After finding out the results of the sleep study my parents were referred to a head and neck specialist at UCLA. My parents went down last week to see several doctors there and were given several treatment options. If they do not chose any of these options and don't do anything to Calvin the doctors said that he would have either a heart attack or stroke later on.

Option #1:

is to do a laser tongue reduction, remove the uvula plus other soft tissues around it and move a certain bone that is attached to the to forward. This option only offer a 50% chance that the problem will be fixed

Option #2:

Break the lower jar and then extend it using titanium plate and screws. This offers a 95% chance that the problem will be fixed

and Option 3:

is to do a tracheotomy, which is making an incision in the base of the neck and putting in a tube so that he would be breathing through that tube. This procedure offers a 100% of fixing the problem but is the least realistic for Calvin.

My parents have not yet decided what they are going to do but I will keep everyone posted. Thanks for looking!

ANOTHER TRIATHLON

C.J. ran another triathlon a few weeks ago and did amazing! He got 1st in his age group and beat his original time by 3 mins!

I am so proud of him!

He is planning on running the St. George marathon in September and I can't wait to see him cross the finish line. C.J. always wants me do run triathlons and marathons with him but to be honest I cant see myself doing anything like that. This is why I am always so proud of him for finishing.

RED CLIFFS

Red Cliffs is a spot where there are natural slides part of the year and you can go slide down them. You have to make a short hike which is a little bit hard with kids but it was well forth it.

Then we gave them to the Taylor kids and they kept them in a tank and watched them turn into frogs. After they turned into frogs they somehow hopped out and are now lost in their house somewhere! ha ha They found one all dried up in the back of Brandon's truck... not sure how it got there but funny story.

Paisley slept for most of the trip and we used Jaysa hat to keep her shaded.

My family had a little family reunion up in Provo a couple of weeks ago and from there we headed up to Bear River Lodge. It was so much fun!

My family has a tradition of waking up early to go see what sorts of animals they can find.

5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

This year we were supposed to go to a resort in Arizona but since my mom was watching the babes and my Granddad has been very sick she was afraid he might die while we were out of town. Since she needed to be able to fly down the funeral if it happened we switched our resort package to a resort in Vegas. Even though it wasn't really ideal it was still a lot of fun to be able to get away.

CALVIN'S SLEEP STUDY

A few years ago after watching Calvin for a week a few years ago I mentioned to my mom calvin's sleep apnea and that she should have it checked. We finally had it check but it was no easy task. This was actually a second attempt at it. The first time my mom and Byrin went. Calvin would rip off all of the wires as soon as they put them on him and they fought him for four hours to keep them on. This time we brought the big guns. It took me, C.J. and Justin to keep him from taking all the wires off and making him keep his pulsox on.

Calvin is EXTREMELY strong and flexible. We even had to tie his legs together to keep him from kicking us off the bed! If you loog at me I had to hold the one finger up in the air that had the pulsox on it and hold the rest of his fingers down so he couldn't wiggle it off.

His legs tied. We actually had his ankels tied too but as the night went on he was too tired to try kicking us out of bed.

Finally done and taking taking all the stickers off. It was a miserable night.

I know this looks really mean and sad but it had to be done. His results were actually a lot worse than we thought they would be. He has severe sleep apnea. I didn't really sleep at all and in the early morning hours I could actually dose off for a second between his breaths. At times there were 30 second or more breaks between his breaths. Since Calvin would never keep a Sea Pap on the doctors have suggested him getting a tounge reduction. Sounds horrible but my mom says she has watched it on Youtube and it's not that bad. They actually go in and lipo the tounge to make it smaller. We don't want to have to do this if we don't have to but after seeing his results from this sleep study it hard to ignore.

UPDATE ON JAYLIE

Jaylie is now through her 6 weeks of radiation and the doctors are AMAZED at for well she is doing! We couldn't be more happy with the progress she is making and how well she is handling everything. Right now she is on a 5 week break before her starts her 6 months Chemo. This will be the really scary part. In her radiation stage she was still fairly healthy. She was tired but nothing too scary. With the Chemo she will loose a lot of weight, have very little energy, and her counts will go down. The doctors told her mom that they want to know if she stubs her toe! She will be really suseptible to illness so it will be a scary time for their family. We are actually headed down to Texas today so we are so excited to see her while she is on her break. We are headed to Sea World on Saturday which will be so fun for all the kids! My family also bought Jaylie a Nintendo Ds so that she can play it while she is in the hospital doing her chemo treatments.
